Jessica Rossiter- General Manager
Jessica is a recent graduate of Queen’s University with degrees in Drama and Psychology. She was the Artistic Director of Queen's Vagabond Theatre for 2 years as well as spending time on the production side with the Dan School of Drama, Theatre Kingston, the Cellar Door Project and 5th Company. She also held the position of head of the Drama Students Council at Queen's in 2016. With Blue Canoe, Jessica produced the entire 2017 summer season which included Man of La Mancha and Spamalot.
Maddy Scovil- Artistic Director
Maddy is a recent graduate of Queen’s University with degrees in Drama, French and Education. Her most recent credits with Blue Canoe include directing Peter and the Starcatcher (2017) and Man of La Mancha (2017). Blue Canoe audiences will also remember Maddy from her performances as Roxie Hart in Chicago (2016) and Luisa Contini in Nine (2014), as well as appearing in cast of The Producers (2014) and Pippin (2014). Maddy spent three years with the Queen’s Barefoot Players where she created and toured adaptations of Shakespeare and fairy tales for young audiences.
Jane Karges- Managing Director of The Juvenis Festival
Jane graduated Queen's University in 2015 with a degree in Drama. Originally from Toronto, Jane has been in Kingston since starting school here in 2011. Jane has spent the past 2 years as the Managing Director of Blue Canoe's Juvenis Festival, working closely with the community to create Kingston's first ever youth arts festival. Before her time with Juvenis, Jane gained experience as a Production Manager with Blue Canoe, Queen's Vagabon, 5th Company Lane, the Dan School of Drama Major Productions and Queen's Musical Theatre. Jane is currently a member of the City of Kingston's Arts Advisory Committee and the social media coordinator for the Tett Centre's Kaboom arts project.
Reid Cunningham- Producer of The Juvenis Festival
A graduate of LCVI, Kingston born and raised, Reid has been involved with Blue Canoe since 2012 appearing in the casts of "13 the Musical" and "Aida". Reid has spent the past 5 years pursuing a music career playing all over Kingston with The Rhythm Haints and in London, Ontario with Lizard Eyed Men. An accomplished singer, Reid was the lead of the band "Talk of the Street", which performed in Kingston over the past year. Reid has performed at Skeleton Park Arts Festival, Kingston Blues Fest, and BLue Skies Festival. Reid has been the producer of the Juvenis Festival for the past 2 years, focusing on Festival development and the hit event Battle of the Bands. Reid is currently the Community Action Coordinator for Y2K (Youth 2 Kingston) part of the Students Commission of Canada.
Ryan Cowl- Education Coordinator/Producer
Ryan Cowl is a recent graduate of Queen’s University. Ryan holds degrees in music and education, focusing on vocal techniques and pedagogy. Ryan has been working in music and theatre for nearly two decades in various roles, including performer, educator, music director, orchestrator, and composer. Ryan toured this summer with the Thousand Islands Playhouse, as part of their young company as well as producing two productions of his first original musical: Homeschooled the Musical, which was a hit of the Storefront Fringe Festival and Blue Canoe’s own Juvenis Festival.
Mat McAllister- Graphic Designer
A graduate of St. Lawrence College, Mat holds a degree in Graphic Design and has been working on various projects for Blue Canoe, the Tett Centre, the Kick & Push Festival and other community groups in Kingston for the past 4 years.
