Welcome to Blue Canoe Theatrical Productions Inc.

Kingston's youth theatre company since 2007

Blue Canoe was founded on December 13, 2006 by a group of High School Students from RND, a High School in Kingston. It was incorporated in November 2011 as a non-profit organization. The goal of Blue Canoe is to create opportunities for youth in Kingston, Ontario who are between the ages of 13-30 to explore their interest in theatre and the arts. Every production has youth in leadership roles, which helps young people to explore the arts by participating on stage, off stage, in design, production, direction, producing and event planning.

Recently Blue Canoe has expanded to offering opportunities in other areas in the arts with programs such as the Juvenis Festival, Kingston's first youth arts festival, held every May during National Youth Week. Viva Voce, a storytelling coffeehouse for youth to tell their stories in a variety of ways. And a cabaret evening called Songs & Spirits which presents themed staged concerts.

After a successful summer and fall season of programming, Blue Canoe's educational program Launch Point Academy is hosting a week long theatre intensive this March Break for students aged 8-15. Our program will focus on acting, writing, directing, singing, composing, and dancing, with our students working with our instructors on writing and creating a pantomime show to be performed on the Friday at the end of the program. Launch Point prides itself on creating opportunities and programming for students of any skill level, be it new or seasoned performers!

Summer Theatre Intensive

After a successful first season, we are happy to return with Launch Point Academy’s Summer Theatre Intensive! Each session will offer our participants the chance to audition for and be cast in a professional musical. Students will learn skills, create friendships and rehearse for a high-quality production. Days will consist of vocal lessons, dance instruction, performance workshops, intensive rehearsals and drama activities. This is an invaluable opportunity for any child who wishes to prepare for community or professional theatre.
